"Why doesn’t training work? Interesting question…right?
I going and going to one after another; learning and learning; reading and reading ...I'm worn out dude! What the heck? HELPPPPP! I need a fricken breakthrough!
You’d think training, having a coach or mentor should work if you did it, however, the reality for some it simply does not. So today, I hope I will get you some important insights about why training, coaching, books, videos, and seminars won’t work for some folks.
If you're in sales, a team leader, manager or a company owner…there’s a good chance you’ve been exposed to some sales and leadership training. And if not, show me the cave!
Maybe you’re new to sales and leadership or training and coaching program or you’re thinking about becoming involved in one, today I want to go over with you why training and coaching does not work and why it does.
Knowing the reasons why some folks sales never succeed with training and coaching will help us to create solution necessary to become a great success as a result of taking on the training and coaching.
I have been working in the sales, leadership, and personal and professional development business for over 35 years. I along with my teams, we have closed over 5,500 transactions in the real estate and mortgage business.
Additionally, along with my brother David, we've worked in the seminar production business with some of the greatest thought leaders in the world; people like Tony Robbins, Brian Tracy, Les Brown, Pat Riley, Lou Holtz, Jim Rohn, and many others... we sold and put over a ½ billion salespeople and company leaders into seminars around the world.
The reason I share this with you is that I've seen many people have tremendous success after going through our seminars, training, and coaching and within a very short period of time…these folks became high achievers within a few short years!
On the other hand, many people who go to seminars, training and even have a coach never get the results they expected or wanted. As I noted above closing over 5,500 transactions... I've also conducted over 7000 training seminars, speaking and training well over 55,000 salespeople and leaders as well I’ve made over 12000 coaching calls and as a result, I have a decent idea why some people fail and why some people succeed.
To begin ... why do people get into training and coaching in the first place?
To increase their income
To increase their productivity
To learn about the sales business
To become a better leader for their teams and their companies
To learn specific techniques in sales
To improve mindsets and confidence in themselves
Obviously, there are a few more reasons why people want to be trained and coached.
As a sales person and as a leader, it's important to identify the “WHY” for you so you can keep that at the forefront of your mind as you go through coaching and training.
So, on today’s 15-Minute Huddle … I’m going to identify why training, coaching, seminars and even having a mentor doesn't work and why it does.
